Welcome

END OF AN ERA FOR THE LORNE ADVENTURE FEST

After an incredible 10 years of the Lorne Adventure Fest we now advise that the event will no longer be continuing with 2014 having been the last race.

This has been a very tough decision for Rapid Ascent as it was the first event we ever conducted and last year we celebrated its 10th anniversary but we have decided to cease running the event to concentrate on other races.

We have all shared so many incredible experiences down at Lorne and we thank you for the fun we all had and hope that we will see you at another Rapid Ascent event in the near future.

What was the Lorne Adventure Race?

The Lorne Adventure Race is the premier event over the weekend and has been held annually for the last 10 years in and around Lorne in the Otway Ranges. This is a race with both heritage and credibility… it continues to attract many of the best adventure racers from across Australia and New Zealand and has long been a MUST DO EVENT for anyone who wants a decent off-road adventure.

It's also the 2014 Australasian Multisport Championships! So step up in 2014 and tackle the big one.

Course Backdrop

First up, competitors face a swim around the iconic Lorne Pier and across crystal clear Loutit Bay to the cheers of thousands of spectators. Then it’s a paddle past the cliffs and golden beaches flanking the iconic Great Ocean Road while surfing friendly southern ocean swells. Back on land, you run along the incredible rocky/sandy foreshore before disappearing inland through rainforests, under massive tree ferns, and past mighty waterfalls.

Finally, it’s time to saddle up the mountain bike to conquer a new MTB course that takes you deep within the Otway Ranges before enjoying a screaming (always figuratively, sometimes literally) descent to the beach-set transition and a short, sandy run to the finish line with a grin from ear to ear.

The Course Legs (total distance 55km)

Four off-road disciplines are featured:

  1.    1.9km Endura Ocean Swim
  2.    13km Peak Adventure Ocean Paddle
  3.    16km Active Feet Coast and Trail Run
  4.    23km Camelbak Mountain Bike
  5.    700m Otway Fly Beach Run

Entry Options - Individual / Pair / Relay Team

The Lorne Adventure Race can be completed in a range of categories to get anyone and everyone to the start, and then over the finish line:

  • Individuals – do every leg as a non-stop race.
  • Pairs – do every leg but in the company of your mate who’s by your side the whole way.
  • Relay Teams – with up to 4 people where you do one (or more) legs each. A great way to get involved without being a super hero. Build up a team of friends and work colleagues and join all the fun!
