The Red Centre Single Stage - race stage 7 only
Want to join the mountain bike action of the Ingkerreke Commercial MTB Enduro - Red Centre for a single stage only – well here is your chance with the Red Centre Single Stage.
The Red Centre Single Stage allows riders to join the enthusiasm, share the enjoyment and race the experts as part of the premier Ingkerreke Commercial MTB Enduro without having to do all 7 stages. This your chance to join the action when you otherwise thought you couldn’t… get into it!
About the ride
Red Centre Single Stage riders will participate in the Chifley Alice Springs Resort Stage 7 (the final stage) of the Ingkerreke Commercial MTB Enduro as fully fledged riders just like everyone else. You will start with the main peloton, ride the same course as the other riders and share the enthusiasm of crossing the finish line with the other riders. For the last day at least – you are one of them! The Chifley Alice Springs Resort Stage 7 is a challenging 40km race that will give an excellent taste of the variety of riding in and around Alice Springs and that the other riders have ridden all week. The stage will also be the Tavis Johannsen Memorial stage with the overall stage winner receiving the Memorial Trophy.

The Start and course description:
The race starts with riders completing a 1.7km circuit on the streets through the Alice Springs town centre. All riders gather in the Chifley Alice Springs Resort courtyard area and then commence with a mass start, riding along Sturt Tce, turning left into Undoolya Rd, left into Leichhardt Tce and then left into Stott Tce. After crossing the Todd River on Stott Tce, riders cross over the road (caution here), riding through the wide storm water drain and then continue along the marked route crossing Berger Crt to keep following the drainage channel before turning right onto 4WD tracks that soon become single tracks.
Keep following the marked course as it crosses Undoolya Road and continues along flowing single and 4WD tracks before climbing Undoolya Ridge on a tough 4WD track. The course then continues on an enjoyable mix of single and double tracks in the Kurrajong area, through Wigleys Water Hole where it crosses the Todd River and then climbs to the radio towers before a final descent to the finish line.
Specific Hazards / Rules:
- Keep an eye out for course markings and stick to the marked route at all times (you will get lost in the maze of tracks otherwise!).
- Watch for traffic on all roads, particularly when crossing Undoolya Rd. Normal road rules apply and traffic is not stopped during the race.
