Event description and details

The award winning Ingkerreke Commercial MTB Enduro* gives you five days of some of the most awesome and unique mountain biking on offer in Australia.

The event is all about racing some good miles on your bike and then kicking back around the pool with new and old friends afterwards. Its about riding in a truly awesome location, where the tectonic lines of the grand old MacDonnell’s disappear into a distant horizon, with big blue skies, rolling single track and the majesty of the desert. It’s a place that has to be seen (and ridden) to be believed.

Seven stages of racing over five days, ranging from a 45sec hill sprint in the middle of town to a 77km epic through the majestic MacDonnell Ranges:

  • Multi day stage race without multi day logistics – all race days start and finish within rolling distance of Alice Springs, no rental car or support crew necessary (we’ll even pick you up at the airport!)
  • Race in the morning then kick back and party on by the pool in the afternoon – yeah baby.
  • Choose to stay in the appointed event hotel with negotiated rates and full event centre including bike servicing & cleaning, massage, daily photo slide shows, food, entertainment and nightly presentations

If you thought the outback was full of sand and corrugations you’re wrong, this is single track heaven with endless blue skies and dusty smiles.

* The 2011 event won the NT Tourism Brolga Award for the BEST FESTIVAL OR EVENT in the Northern Territory in a coup for mountain biking and tourism in the state. (Woohoo!)

Rider testimonials and quotes:

“…one hell of a good race…”
Huw Kingston – organiser of the renowned Vaude Highland Fling and outdoor guru.

"Just wanted to say a HUGE big thank you to all the team for making the Alice Springs bike race so much fun. Everyone agreed that it was fantastically organised, efficiently run and gee what awesome trails you managed to combine into 5 days of racing. As I was talking to another competitor at the airport about the event, he said that it was the sort of week that strikes something deep in the soul. It certainly was a very special week for me. It was challenging and fun and oh-so satisfying! What a great way to see the beautiful landscapes of Australia. Had a great time and wanted you all to know."
Jenny Kjar (2011midfield rider)

“… if there is one race you should put in the diary with a big black permanent marker pen, it’s the Anaconda MTB Enduro in Alice Springs…”
“If you can get time off in May next year get yourself to Alice and experience a memorable week for yourself.”

James Williamson editor and Solo 24hr Mountain Bike World Champion, 2 time participant.

“The week provides a great atmosphere and a real sense of adventure that you don’t get with single day events, the scenery is also stunning.”
Trevor Harris - tailender from the 2009.

“That race was fun…The week in Alice was a whole lot of fun, the stages are suitable to a huge variety of riders and the vibe of the week was just awesome! It is a completely different event to the Croc (trophy).”
Jo Bennett, winning female in the 2009 race.

Here is the earliest little promo video we made - its a bit grainy but it shows the flow of the trails better than most. This is some sweet riding.

[The Red Centre MTB Enduro was formally called The Anaconda MTB Enduro but none of the features of the event have changed - only the sponsors name. It is also the reincarnation of the Central Australian Bike Challenge that was last held in 2006 ago but with many new aspects brought to this old favourite].
