You may have already heard, but if not we are pleased to announce that team adventuregear.com.au won the Mountain Designs GeoQuest adventure race over the Queen's Birthday long weekend.
At 11:42am Sun 10th June, team adventuregear.com.au tore up the final beach run, arriving at the finish 28hrs 42mins after the start, almost an hour ahead of expectations. They were only 18 minutes ahead of team X-Terrain. Jarad Kohlar of X-terrain said both teams were racing "... on the edge of crack territory". Reigning champions Team Mountain Designs rounded up the podium an hour off the pace in 3rd place.
Arguably Australia's top adventure racer John Jacoby had joined up with multiple Anaconda Adventure Race champion and surf ironman legend Guy Andrews, skilled outdoorsman Sam Maffett and recently crowned Bribie Island Multi Sport champion Kim Beckinsale to have formed the new team for this year's race: team adventuregear.com.au. Before this victory however, the Geoquest title was one of the few that had previously eluded both Guy and John.
What is considered to be Australia's premier adventure race, this year's GeoQuest was situated on the North Coast of NSW just south of Coffs Harbour from the town of Sawtell. Surrounded by magnificent forest, pristine water ways, limitless trails and river systems, the race was an absolute cracker!
