Community to benefit from adventure event partnership

The Anaconda Adventure Race National Series finale event, to be held in Lorne on 8-9 December, will this year bring with it more than just the 1200 competitors it attracts annually to the seaside resort town.

Event organiser Rapid Ascent has announced that it will partner with not-for-profit community organisation, Give Where You Live, in a bid to raise awareness of and funding for the organisation’s valuable community work in the Greater Geelong and Surf Coast region.

All competitors will be asked to support Give Where You Live’s work by using a special fundraising page to encourage friends and family to donate in support of their competing in the Anaconda specifically for the purpose of raising the much needed funds.

Competitors (teams and individuals) can register their interest in helping to raise money for Give Where You Live at this webpage

Give Where You Live aims to provide leadership to help create a caring Geelong and regional community in which all people are able to reach their full potential and not be constrained by health, education or income limitations.

“Our mission is to create a more compassionate and productive society throughout the Geelong region by assisting individuals to reach their full potential and helping to address issues relating to health, education and income limitations," says Give Where you Live CEO, Bill Mithen.

“We aspire to be the philanthropic organisation of choice for donors and service providers. Operating as a vital conduit, we have the advantage of having an extensive knowledge of the local region, its people and their needs. We hope that competitors in the Anaconda will be enthusiastic about racing in the name of raising funds for Give Where You Live." “Give Where You Live has a strong community profile and an extensive network of partners and community leaders who advocate for and support the organisations’ activities," says Rapid Ascent General Manager, Sam Maffett.

“As a local company hosting a local event, we wanted to help support the regional community beyond simply bringing in visitation dollars via the event. We want some benefit to also go to an organisation that supports those in our community who need it the most, who may not derive benefit from there simply being an adventure race in town.

“So we are proud to announce the partnership of the Lorne Anaconda Adventure Race with Give Where You Live. We encourage all our competitors, family and friend to learn more about Give Where You Live and support them via donations or by raising money in their name via participating in the Anaconda."
