Welcome to Anaconda Adventure Race: WA

Welcome to stop off #2 of the Anaconda Adventure Race National Series for 2012 – wild Augusta in Western Australia.

When Saturday November 3rd and Sunday November 4th, 2012
Where Augusta, South Western, Western Australia
What An adventure weekend for everyone

These days, the name Augusta is almost as synonymous with adventure racing as Anaconda, such is the big reputation of this leg of the Anaconda Adventure Race National Series. Already recognised as the World's (yes, people, the world's) largest adventure race, this year it’s only going to get bigger with the addition of the Anaconda Mini, anew, shorter event that will introduce a league of converts to the sport of adventure racing with shorter, more accessible courses that give an achievable taste of what Anaconda is all about.

With the Anaconda Mini joining the regular full course Anaconda Adventure Race and the Junior Survivor, it promises to be an electric race atmosphere like no other.

The three events all take in the wilderness and untouched landscapes in and around Augusta in the south west of Western Australia. There's rocky headlands, tranquil ocean reefs alive with (friendly) fish; paddlesexploring Hardy Inlet and out into the (protected parts) of the Southern Ocean; and the mountain bike sections sweeping through inland forests along single tracks that could be certified as a fun park.

There really is nothing like it. It's the Wild West in every adventurous sense.

For the support crew of family and friends, there's plenty of local attractions plus an adventure expo with sponsors stands, market stalls, food, event bar, kids entertainment, live music and plenty more all on the scenic foreshore.

The place is special. The racesare special. There’s something on offer of everyone. All that's missing from this adventure is you.

Super athlete, weekend warrior or couch bound contemplator? The three events happening over the course of the weekend are:

  • The Anaconda Adventure Race – the premier event for the more experienced (or the more determined!) adventure racer that includes a 62.9kmcourse, including ocean swimming and kayaking, mountain biking and trail running open to relay teams and individuals.
  • The Anaconda Mini – a new ‘half distance’ event designed for beginners and intermediate racers who cover an approx. 27km course including inlet swimming and kayaking, mountain biking and trail running. Also open to relay teams and individuals.
  • The Anaconda Junior Survivor – a super fun adventure challenge event designed and run especially for children aged between 5 and 13 years of age that gives them their own dose of off-road fun.

So lock Saturday November 3rd and Sunday November 4th in the diary now, get the family out training, pack the car and book your accommodation because the Anaconda Adventure Race weekend is always a huge weekend down in Augusta!
