Augusta, South Western, Western Australia |
| What |
An adventure weekend for everyone |
These days, the name 'Augusta' is as synonymous with adventure racing, such is the big reputation of the Augusta Adventure Fest (formally known as the Anaconda Adventure Series).
Already recognised as the World's (yes, people, the world's) largest adventure race with over 3,300 competitors across the weekend, this year it’s only going to get bigger and better!
With the Augusta Mini Adventure Race returning for 2013 after a successful inauguration last year, the Mini will compliment the premier Augusta Adventure Race and the Augusta Junior Survivor, promising to deliver an electric race atmosphere like no other!
AUGUSTA'S WILD WILDERNESS
Competitors will take in the wilderness and untouched landscapes in and around Augusta in the south west of Western Australia. There's rocky headlands, tranquil ocean reefs alive with (friendly) fish; paddlesexploring Hardy Inlet and out into the (protected parts) of the Southern Ocean; and the mountain bike sections sweeping through inland forests along single tracks that could be certified as a fun park.
There really is nothing like it.
It's the Wild West in every adventurous sense.
THE RACES
Augusta is place is special. The races are special. There’s something on offer of everyone; with four off-road disciplines including trail running, mountain biking, ocean kayaking and swimming. All that's missing from this adventure is you!
Three race formats:
1. Augusta Adventure Race:
The premier race for the more experienced (or the more determined!) adventure racer over a 63km course, including ocean swimming, kayaking, mountain biking and trail running. Open to individuals and relay teams.
2. Augusta Mini Adventure Race:
A half distance race ideal for younger competitors and first timers, designed to provide a taste of adventure without the intimidating distances involved in the full length version. The course includes inlet swimming and kayaking, mountain biking and trail running. Open to relay teams and individuals; and great for newcomers and female participation!
3. Augusta Junior Survivor:
A 4km running and obstacle course for kids aged 4 to 13. The super fun adventure challenge gives kids a dose of off-road excitement!
THE SUPPORTERS
For the support crew of family and friends, there's plenty of local attractions plus an adventure expo with sponsors stands, market stalls, food, event bar, kids entertainment, live music and plenty more all on the scenic foreshore.
So lock Saturday 2nd November and Sunday 3rd November in the diary now, get the family out training, pack the car and book your accommodation because the Augusta Adventure Fest is always a huge weekend down in Augusta, WA!
