Welcome to the Augusta Adventure Race
WHEN: Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November, 2013.
WHERE: Augusta, Western Australia
The premier 62.9km course Augusta Adventure Race has long been the World’s biggest adventure race by numbers on course and sells out in weeks, and for good reason.
We're talking true wilderness and untouched landscapes in the south west of Western Australia. The course throws up everything a quality adventure race should and there is an inkling that you’re in for something special as you line up at the start on a gigantic boulder platform under shadow of the iconic Augusta lighthouse.
Ahead is an off road run that has you on sand, rock hopping, on single track, up hills and smashing down descents as you explore the hinterland of the Augusta headland. The coastline along which you race will blow your mind as much as the racing will blow your lungs. There's the swim out from a pier and over ocean reefs; a paddle across Hardy Inlet and out into (protected parts) of the Southern Ocean; and the mountain bike sweeping through inland forests along single tracks that could be certified as a fun park.
As the premier event of the weekend, this race attracts everyone from the go-fasts – athletes who are finely tuned adventure machines the likes of multisport world champion Richard Ussher and West Australian elite Sean O’Neill – through weekend warriors adept at a bit of competitive adventure and those hardy souls stepping up to a full length adventure race for the first time.
- 13.5km Coastal / Trail Run
- 1.9km Ocean Swim
- 13km Inlet and Ocean Paddle
- 32km Mountain Bike
- 2.5km MargaretRiver.com Team Run
So, step forth the hard and committed (or the determined and the stalwart!) for the premier event of weekend – The Augusta Adventure Race on Sunday 3rd November 2013.
For those worried about the full distance, Augusta Adventure Races can be completed in a range of categories to get anyone and everyone to the start, and then over the finish line:
- Individuals – do every leg as a non stop race
- Pairs – do every leg but in the company of your mate who’s by your side the whole way
- Relay teams – with up to 4 people where you do one (or more) legs each. A great way to get involved without being a super hero – build up a team of friends and work colleagues and join all the fun
