5.2km Trail Run
The Mini gets under way with all competitors setting out on a scenic trail run through the forest near Lake Macdonald. (There will be a women’s only start after the main field). The trail run starts on a lovely section of walking track through the rainforest before turning onto a gravel road for a gradual 60m descent to the base of a hill before turning right for - you guessed it – a gradual 60m climb on good surfaces to the transition area back where you started at Lake Macdonald.
15km Mountain Bike
Hand over to your team mate or swap your running gear for your bike and helmet to head off on the fun mountain bike ride back towards Noosa. The ride starts out on the same single track you just ran on but keeps left and continues on the 2WD dirt road for an even longer descent that will really get you cooking. Keep going along the wide gravel road (read, non technical riding) before turning right onto the bike path beside McKinnon Drive and then right again, back into the bush for a final fling through the forest. Follow the course markings through the streets for the final KM or two and you'll soon be handing over to your team mate / or jumping into your boat for the River Paddle.
5.1km River Paddle
Drop your bike and find your kayak (or your team mate) for a picturesque paddle leg on the Noosa River. This scenic paddle takes you past the Noosa Marina, past the café strip on Gympie Terrace and right past the million dollar properties on Noosa Sound so there is plenty to ogle at as you turn the paddle over on your way home. Pull into the TA at Woods Park on the Noosa Spit and you’ll be ready for a dunking.
600m Swim

Dive into the tranquil waters of the Noosa River for a short out and back splash under the close supervision of a water safety team from the Surf Life Saving Club. This swim leg will freshen you up for the final sprint (or jaunt) through to the finish over on the beach. Nice.
1km Team Run
All team members reunite (whilst individuals continue solo) for a celebratory 1km run through to
the finish together. Exit the TA and cross over Hastings Street then skip your way along Noosa Main Beach into the almighty finish chute to the roars of the adoring crowd. Wave to your audience, smile for the cameras and clap a few high fives because you’ll feel like a hero having just completed the Anaconda Mini at Noosa. Well done.

- Individuals – do all the legs listed above from start to finish.
- Relay teams – enter a team with up to 4 people where you do one (or more) legs each. A great way to get involved if you only do one sport (eg. running) so you can build up a team of friends and work colleagues and join all the fun.
ANACONDA MINI DETAILED COURSE DESCRIPTION
Race start: Lake Macdonald, 11:00am Saturday
The Anaconda Mini starts, and the first transition is at Lake Macdonald which is a 25 minute drive inland from the registration area at the Noosa Surf Life Saving Club.
Directions to get to Lake Macdonald:
- Individuals (ONLY) can park on Collwood Rd to access the Start and T1. From Noosa: drive out the Cooroy - Noosa Rd and turn right onto Sivyers Rd, continue along this road and then turn left into Collwood Rd opposite some large water tanks . Do not travel along the Old Tewantin Rd to get to Lake Macdonald. Car parking is along the side of the road and watch for runners and cyclists (as the race also uses this road).
- Teams MUST park in the large parking areas at the western end of Collwood Rd below the dam wall. From Noosa: drive out the Cooroy-Noosa Rd, turn right into Swift Drive just before the Cooroy Township and then Right into Lake Macdonald Drive. Go past the Botanical gardens and then turn right into Collwood Rd below the dam wall. You must walk 600m along the walking track on the northern side of the water treatment plant to get to the TA.
TRAIL RUN 5.4KM
The trail run is basically a clockwise loop with all runners returning to Lake Macdonald to transition to their mountain bikes at T1. All runners will start together on a wide dirt road before turning sharp left 100m later to enter a narrow single track through the forest – only fast runners should go to the front and slower runners hang back to reduce congestion. From here the course includes a mixture of single track, sealed road, wide double track and then a wide 2WD dirt road back to the transition area (TA).
• The toughest part of the leg is a steep hill up a dirt road at the 3.3km pt.
• Enter the TA and find your team mate / bike and conduct your transition there.
Transition 1 (T1) – Lake Macdonald: Run > MTB
• Access as described under race start above
• Open for bikes and MTB gear to be dropped off after 9:00am on Saturday. All used gear to be collected by 1:00pm Saturday
• Running gear can be transported back to the finish line using the Bag Transfer Services as explained below (this saves having a support crew)
MOUNTAIN BIKE 15.9KM
The mountain bike course is basically an A to B course along a mixture of single / double track, roads and sealed surfaces. The toughest parts of the MTB course are probably the single track sections in the first half of the course
• The course starts by following the first 3.3km of the run course, going along the single track, the sealed road and then the double track through the forest before turning left to continue along the 2WD dirt road.
• The course turns right onto the sealed McKinnon Drive at the 6.3km pt and continues along this sealed, and quite busy, road for 1.6km before turning right again onto a dirt track. All riders must ride on the left hand side of the road and MUST GIVE WAY to cars when turning right. Marshals will be at these two right hand turn points but they will NOT stop traffic. Competitors MUST give way to general traffic
• The last 5km of the ride course is on sealed surfaces, being a mixture of streets, bike paths and footpaths. Please follow the course marking arrows and REMAIN AWARE of traffic at all times
• Normal road rules apply at all times
Transition 2 (T2) – The western end of Hilton Esplanade, Harbour Town. MTB > Paddle
• Located on Hilton Esplanade, just east of the Tewantin Bridge. Parking is in the streets surrounding the TA
• Open for boats and paddling gear to be dropped off after 9:00am on Saturday. All MTBs to be collected by 4:00pm Saturday upon presentation of MTB collection token (handed out at registration)
RIVER PADDLE 5.5KM
The paddle starts at T2 at Harbour Town on Hilton Esplanade and commences with paddlers turning left (West) to paddle 600m upstream to do a U-Turn around a buoy in the river opposite Tewantin Memorial Park. After turning around the buoy, paddlers then proceed down the river to T3 at Woods Point. There are no intermediary buoys between the U-Turn and the TA and paddlers can take the most direct route they choose
• When approaching the end of the paddle and T3, paddlers must stay to the right of all buoys that are marking the swim course and keep an eye out for swimmers in the water
Transition 3 (and 4) (T4) – Woods Point, Noosa Spit. Paddle > Swim (AND Swim > Team Run)
• Located on Hastings Street, in the large grassed area on the left after the last buildings / shops. Public car parking alongside the parkland.
• Open for swim and team run gear to be dropped off after 11:00am on Saturday. Kayaks and other gear must be collected by 4:00pm Saturday upon presentation of kayak collection token (handed out at registration)
• Competitors can use the bag transfer service explained below to get your equipment transferred to T3 and T4 for you (saves having a support crew)
RIVER SWIM – 600M
Swimmers enter the water adjacent the TA and then swim between the two buoys immediately adjacent to the TA, and then veer right to swim a long triangular course in an anti-clockwise direction, turning left around the furthest two buoys then swimming back through the two buoys adjacent the TA and then back to the beach.
TEAM / BEACH RUN 1KM
Swimmers pass through the fenced off TA and, if part of a team, meet their team mates and then depart on the team run together, whilst individuals continue by themselves. Competitors cross over Hastings Street (GIVE WAY TO TRAFFIC) and then continue on the path to Main Beach and then along the sand (not the timber board walk) to the finish line in front of the Surf Life Saving Club.
• Swimmers can decide if they get changed for the team run or not, but if getting changed you must get changed within the fenced off TA and ensure that the race bib is your outermost garment from the TA through to the finish
