It was a good day for the international adventure racers today at Lorne for the finale of the 2012 Anaconda Adventure Race National Series, with New Zealand and French flags flying high under blue skies and sunshine.

Who you callin' old? There could be no barbs about age vs. performance in the inaugural Lorne Anaconda Mini Adventure Race today with the first two athletes over the line racing the Veteran (40-49) category but winning overall.

While the majority of the field slogs it out for category placings, personal achievement goals and pure adventure fun (see pre-race stories here), at the pointy end there remains a field of seriously fast athletes vying for podium honours.

People passionate about adventure are known for going to great lengths, and travelling a long way, to get a healthy dose of wild racing. And so it will pass this weekend that the Victorian seaside resort of Lorne will swell with mountain bikes, kayaks, wetsuits and a sea of orange as more than one thousand adventure racers experienced and otherwise, ready themselves to take on the finale event for the 2012 season of the Anaconda Adventure Race National Series
