This is a race along roller coaster single track so much fun you’ll have a grin from ear to ear; it’s a race up hills so steep you’ll think your heart is going to leap from your chest; it’s a race down flowing fire roads and white knuckle double track that will put tears in your eyes and memories in your mind… and all this is amidst some of the most spectacular countryside you’ll ever see.
There are three course options ready to challenge any level of rider:
- The full 100km Otway Odyssey – starts at Apollo Bay and finishes at Forrest … providing ultimate bragging rights for all finishers!
- The 50km Otway Shorty – starts/finishes in Forrest that includes plenty of sweet single track (New course for 2010).
- The 15km Otway Pioneer – a fun event designed to give kids and beginners to the sport a taste of the action.

Course Familiarisation
To allow competitors in the Otway Odyssey to ride the course before the event, Rapid Ascent will be conducting a familiarisation day ride in the lead up to the big day.
It’s a great idea for all prospective competitors to come and attend the familiarisation day ride as it provides you with a good insight into what the event will entail, to see what the track is like as well as meet a few other riders and enjoy the beautiful Otway Ranges on your bike!
The ride is basically an informal group ride or training session where all interested cyclists are welcome to join us as we lead riders along all or parts of the course. It is open to everyone (even if you have not entered) and is free of charge to attend. We will provide leadership on the day but otherwise all riders should be self sufficient and carry water, food and bike spares, as well as organize their own transport and accommodation (if needed).
Pending numbers on the day, riders would normally spilt into ‘faster’ and slower’ groups to cater for riders of mixed abilities and fitness levels.
Date for the familiarisation day ride will be in January 2011 and we will provide a firm date by October{Click here for further details.}
