Expectation builds for the upcoming Anaconda Adventure Race, Augusta

The 2009 Anaconda Adventure Race in Augusta sold out more than two and a half weeks before the event with a field limit of 600 entries in yet another coup for adventure racing in Western Australia. The event that created the Worlds Biggest Adventure Race in 2008 has done it again and will turn on a mammoth show in Augusta this Sunday on November 8th, 2009. We are thrilled that the event has proved so popular once again,” said Event Manager, Sam Maffett. “Obviously last year’s event at Dunsborough was very popular and was sold out with a field of 554 entries and to reach a full field of 600 at a new race location is just terrific,” he added. . ... {Click here for full story.}

Eldest competitor is ready to race ‘The Anaconda’

PERTH'S Jim Bramley, 65, will be the oldest competitor to take the starting line at this weekend's Anaconda Adventure Race in Augusta and he's determined he won't be the last to finish in the veterans 55 and over category. At the Dunsborough Anaconda Adventure Race last year Jim came seventh and last in his class, which doesn't sit well with a chap who doesn't like losing. Bramley is certain he will record a better result as he runs, swims, paddles and bikes 61.9km on Sunday, November 8. A recent convert to the sport, Bramley made his adventure racing debut two years ago in a team, and made his first attempt at going solo last year.  ... {Click here for full story.}

Competitors, dust off your hear and take on the Lorne Anaconda Adventure Race

Last Sunday saw the first and final formal Lorne familiarization day take place in perfect conditions. Swimmers, paddlers, runners and riders took on the Lorne course which remains largely unchanged from the successful format of the 2008 race. The Keen run has been slightly modified, with Race Director, John Jacoby becoming very soft in his old age and actually removing one of the technical hill climbs and traverses from the run course and shortening the distance by 1km. That wouldn’t have happened 4 years ago! . ... {Click here for full story.}
