Denmark set to come alive with the upcoming Mountain Designs Great Southern Adventure

The 2009 Mountain Designs Great Southern Adventure Race is nearly upon us. Over 160 competitors have entered the two day event to be held this weekend on October 10th and 11th in the stunning Great Southern town of Denmark. Competitors in the event will race in teams of four, with only three on the course at one time, covering almost 200kms over two days. I’d built the UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships up in my mind to be the biggest mountain bike event to ever happen in Australia... of bling riders riding bling bikes at bling bling speeds up and down hill and they did not disappoint – these riders are super human. Raising “three” for The ‘Big Three’ is the catchy mantra that’s driving Pin Affleck’s whirlwind ride up the Rainforest Ride fundraiser leader board. The 30-year-old Relationship Manager at the Burnet Institute has taken over top spot from Adelaide father, Dave Schultz after raising $1368 in just a few weeks. She’s on target to reach her goal of $3000 in pledges for Burnet’s fight against The ‘Big Three’: HIV, TB and malaria. Get yourself into the first event of the off road series by heading out west for the X duo on November 22. The iconic You Yang’s provides a rugged but inspiring venue for this mountain bike and run duathlon. The off road format is a great way to motivate and test yourself on Lorne Adventure Race like conditions. JP Morgan and Kona present the 3rd annual Sydney Spring Fat Tyre Festival

The 3rd Annual Sydney Spring Fat Tyre Festival presented by JP Morgan and Kona is an exciting 8 1/4 hour mountain bike endurance race being held at the fantastic network of singletrack at Ourimbah State Forest approximately 100km north of Sydney.
