100km Kona Odyssey Timed Descent:
Approximately 8km long and just when you need some fun, this awesome single track descent follows the renowned ‘Red Carpet’ track from the Lake Elizabeth Road down to Forrest between points 38km – 46km of the 100km course (approximate distances) and includes a descent of approximately 350m from top to bottom. This will definitely leave you whooping for joy and put a smile on your dial as well as $250 CASH for the fastest boy and girl on the day.

Current record held by Chris Jongewaard in an impressive 11:02min – see if you can beat that boys! Or take on Tory Thomas's 13:06min ladies – another cranking time down this sweet bit of track.

100km Kona Odyssey King of the Mountain Timed Climb:
The timed climb will have any charger lactic from the word go, with the first male and female rider to the top of the hill at the 9km point taking $250 cash each. The final 3.5km rises no less than 350m and will see your heart rate hit the red line as you power for the top in a quest to ease the pain. Current record holders are none other than Chris Jongewaard in 22:03min in the boys and Helen Shelley in 26:19min in the girls

Elite women's category of the 100km Kona Odyssey

In an attempt to stamp out pacing by male riders and create a fair race between all elite women, we will be starting the Elite Women in the 100km Kona Odyssey 30 minutes ahead of the main field. This start is ONLY FOR WOMEN WANTING TO BE IN CONTENTION FOR OVERALL PRIZE MONEY in the open women category. Riders hoping to win either the Queen of the Mountain Climb and/or the Timed Descent must also start in this elite women’s start.

If you are a female rider in the 100km event who is not of an elite level and is not in the hunt for prize money or hoping to win the Queen of the Mountain Climb and/or the Timed Descent, then you must start with the main field - otherwise you will block the way and cause congestion for the elite males on the single track when they catch you.

If a female rider starts in the main field and finishes in a time that gives them a place and thus prize money, this prize money will not be awarded as prize money and recognition will only be awarded to those that started in the women’s Elite only start. Competitors wishing to race in this category must notify Rapid Ascent at registration.
