Description

The Anaconda Junior Survivor is a super fun adventure challenge event designed and run especially for children aged between 5 and 13 years of age. The eventtakes place on the Saturday before the Anaconda Adventure Race so kids get the chance to be the centre of attention and get their share of off-road fun before the adults have their day on Sunday.

The event is basically a marked cross country course that is interspersed with a range of exciting obstacles and water activities all in a bush and beach environment, that kids must complete on the way around and shows them that being outdoors and active is a lot of fun. Challenges such as the Spiders Web, the Live Wire and Hidden Hurdles are all part of the fun with each obstacle requiring no explanation or instruction on how to do them but giving kids something to think about while they run around on their own adventure. 98% of kids do the event on their own and without the assistance of a parent / guardian, but if a child needs support then an adult can accompany with them if needed.

Kids from as young as 5years have completed in previous events with some running the whole way, some walking and the majority starting out at a million miles an hour and then fading not long after! Either way the kids seem to love having their own adventure event set out especially for them, they get their own shirt, their own freebies and their own bit of fun as well as their own chance to run down the finish chute with all the adults involved with the Anaconda Adventure Race cheering them on. Many kids talk about it for months afterwards and vow to never take their Junior Survivor t-shirt off!

The Anaconda Junior Survivor is held in conjunction with all Anaconda Adventure Races in the series and regularly attracts over 400 fun loving kids to come and enjoyed their own adventure. The inaugural WA Junior Survivor in Augusta last year was a huge success with all kids making their way around the course safely and with plenty of smiles.

So fire up kids for a blast of off road adventure fun that’s set up especially for you!

When?

The Anaconda Junior Survivor will start at 3:30pm on Saturday 6th of November 2010 and will finish with presentations at around 5:00pm. The event will be held while the Adventure Expo is in full swing and while adult competitors in the Anaconda Adventure Race are registering so there will be plenty of active supporters to cheering you over the finish line!

[Note, all Junior Survivors must complete registration along with a parent and/or guardian between 12:00pm and 3:00pm on Saturday 6th of November  2010 at the Turner Caravan Park]

Where?

The Anaconda Junior Survivor starts and finishes in the middle of the Adventure Expo in Turner Caravan Park in Augusta – the same registration / expo / finish area as the (adult) Anaconda Adventure Race. The course then winds its way around the river bank, foreshore and surrounding bushland that’s all interspersed with obstacles and challenges. The course will be fully marked and marshalled and any road crossing is made safe with traffic management personnel.

Do I need any special equipment or skills?

No. No special equipment or athletic skills are required, just bring along your sense of adventure and fun, a good pair of shoes and we promise we’ll put a smile on your dial!

How long?

The full course is approximately 4.5km long and Junior Survivors can expect to encounter an exciting survivor challenge every 5 minutes or so. The course is designed to give you about 45 minutes of physical activity, however if you’re super-quick you could finish in about a 25 minutes, or if you’re a bit slower and walk the whole thing, it may be a little longer than an hour. The important thing is that every Junior Survivor who crosses the finish line is a winner!

Many parents have commented that, “…there was no way that I though little Johnnie could go for 4.5km but he just got caught up with the enthusiasm of it all and did it easily…” so although it seems a long way, so far every child that has started it has finished it.
