Training Programs and Adventure Advice

Are you keen to get into adventure racing and these other off-road sports but know where to start? Then read on because we’ve got a wealth of information and tips from some experts who are super keen to help get you started.

Female Focussed Training Programs

Adventure Racer Deanna Blegg (one of our elite ambassadors!) has put together a training program to get you ready for the first race! Click here to check it out!

Training Advice and Support

In addition to the training programs above (coming!) we are super excited to announce a partnership with Eliza Jenkins – Exercise Physiologist and female racer - who will provide some tips on how to avoid injury and look after yourself when trying something new. (Click here to read a testamonial by Eliza and learn more about her).

Eliza is an expert in the field of injury prevention and providing qualified advice on how to get into a new sport and look after yourself. She has kindly drafted this article below to help get you started (safely):

This article provides a basis for ‘how to train’ effectively and to safely so you build fitness without ending up injured. Although it covers some quite high level content this article explains how to add structure and focus to your training so you can take the next step with your sport. If you are just starting to train then the key point from this article is to gradually increase your training volume bit by bit and listen to your body – rather than going all out from the word go.

“Ask Eliza”

Eliza has very kindly offered to provide advice and support to females getting into adventure sports on a one on one basis via e-mail. Whether you are just starting out or if you are already pretty fit but don’t know how to improve then Eliza can provide you with information and ideas on what to do next to achieve your goals.

Simply e-mail Eliza via elizajenkins@hotmail.com with your questions and she’ll get back to you within a day or two with plenty of ideas.

(We thank Eliza for her the assistance and encouragement she is providing to the female focus program).

Other training programs?

Equally so – if you have any female focussed training programs for any or all of the adventure race sports (swimming, running, mountain biking and paddling) that you’d like to share with us then please send them through and we’ll post them, and your advice onto this age as well. Please contact Claire Eats in our office via Claire@rapidascent.com.au or call (03) 5261 5511

Female Adventure Sport Articles

Girl Talk is a regular column in Enduro Magazine. The idea behind the writing is move away from representations of women’s mountain biking as a pastel coloured phenomenon that happens on the edge of the sport, and show it how it is instead: full of fears, fun, intelligent conversation and a whole community of riders to share new experiences with.

You can read 7 of these articles on Kath Bicknell’s blog site here that provide plenty of inspiration and insights into the female side of the sport.
